Gosh! This is some wierd shit! (At this point dear reader you should understand that this utterance is a high compliment). Todd Drootin, a mere lad from the Los Angeles underground sports a table full of effects equipment, DATs, and other assorted noise makers which find their cadence through a demented array of guitar effects pedals. These are slapped, pounded upon, and shaken in order to control the direction of the music. What results is pure beauty and chaos.

Drootin is stabled on the ultra-hip, super-dork label, Death Bomb Arc Records. The label has a stash of super-weird artists, like Mr. Drootin, who shroud themselves in the cloak of experimental tunage. Books On Tape is one of the stranger ones on the label and Drootin seems to revel the oddness that he cranks out of his machines.

Somewhere in the realm of IDM and Slip-Hop, Throw Down Your Laptops is vibrating, clanging, twitchy album of eclectic electronica. You can chill to the tracks on this album for sure, you can even dance to them, but one thing is for sure, you certainly won’t be calling this electronic circus “boring”.

Check it!
