If you haven't heard of them yet, you will. The Moving Units are going places you see, and doing so with the extra verve and gusto that will send them to the top. The Moving Units sound is one that recalls A Certain Ratio, ESG, and The Minute Men. This was a time when one could easily confuse "Punk" with "Funk" and bands tended to create a pulse and throb that was not too desperate from the mindless, over-sexed, shimmy of Disco. Of course The Moving Units have neither the political agenda of the Minutemen, nor are they as clever and as unique as ACR. But, what the hell, they are a revival band of sorts and they execute this role quite well. The shows the Moving Units have played in L.A. have been some of the most extraordinary shows I've ever seen, with crowds that surpass big name headliners. What makes The MU so fantastic is that they create a music that has an edge, but is funky enough to shake your ass to. The songs are quick and dirty and contain super-juicy base riffs and a bouncy drum-line that will get you off your stool and onto the dance floor. Experience the Moving Units new EP and you'll be one of the converted- hopping about in complete bliss- feeling that juicy beat that carries you on, into the night.
-A parting word of advice: buy the 12" vinyl edition, for the full effect.
